6.3.15. Piston and connecting rod
•
Use a piston heater to heat the piston
approximately 100 °C ~ 212 °F for 5
minutes.
•
Align the piston pin hole with the con-
necting rod small end bush oiled and
press the piston pin (by lightly tapping
with a rubber hammer) to assemble
the connecting rod into the piston.

Noticing the direction of the piston,
make the longer side (machined with
key groove on the bearing) of the con-
necting rod big end and the mark of
‘ ‘ impressed on the inside of the
piston face each other in opposite
directions. On the piston head sur-
face, the longer side of the connect-
ing rod big end is in opposite direction
from the valve seat surface.
•
Install the snap rings and check to see that it is securely assembled.
•
Install the piston ring in the piston using piston ring pliers.
